Building With Bay West Homes

The journey of building a new house...

The winter season is upon us, and that means one thing in Calgary: SNOW! We've noticed that our house has a particular flaw that we only noticed lately. In a word: puddle. Rather than having a garage that gently slopes downward (outwards), ours seems to do just the opposite. The net result is that we have a permanent pool of water at the entrance to our garage. That water is nearly an inch deep, and it's not from snow melting off our cars. The water comes from our driveway, and it pools up until we have water to make it irritating. I've lived in many houses over the years, and I've never seen a garage do this - and in talking with friends and family, it's certainly not SUPPOSED to do this.

We've added this onto our list of outstanding issues with Bay West, so we'll see what they have to say when they see our list. The mistakes they made in our basement are too late to fix, but I'm not planning on having to walk through a pool of water six months a year for as long as we're in this house.
