Building With Bay West Homes

The journey of building a new house...

So what have we been up to lately? Getting married of course! Ashley and I were wed on Saturday December 1st, in a large-ish (250 people) ceremony at our church just outside Calgary. Planning for the wedding has been taking up a huge amount of time lately, so now that we're done with that, we hope to update this site more often and really focus on the house.

So how are things going with the house? Quite well! We'll post some pics in the next few days, but when we visited yesterday, the siding was going up and the basement was finished (concrete was poured and the wiring boxes were all done).

There have been some frustrating parts lately too - Jason Chupik, our representative from Canyon Plumbing, is a really nice guy but incredibly frustrating to deal with. I called him about a price on a water purifier two weeks ago, and I have yet to hear back from him. This is the third time this has happened with him - great to deal with if you're in the showroom with him, but really frustrating if you're dealing with him over the phone. Most of our suppliers have been great so far - Brandon Pringle from Coast Wholesale Appliances has been utterly fantastic - really nice, on the ball, very responsive, and very sincere. We couldn't ask for anything more! We've placed our final order for the appliances, and we were really pleased that the black and stainless steel style we wanted wasn't all that much more expensive. Still, the final ticket price gave my heart a jump. :-)

The biggest problem we have now is selling my current home - in short, it's a stressful, ugly experience all the way through. Every time we speak to someone from Bay West they ask me if I've sold my home, as if NOT selling it was a purposeful decision I'm making. It's getting really frustrating - more on this tomorrow. We have a showing here in an hour, so let's hope that this is the one. :-)
