Please note: The Velo series has been discontinued, and in fact, Philips has pulled out of Windows CE all together (their mistake). I no longer own a Velo 1 or Velo 500, so I don't have the CD-ROM with the updated 2.0 software, I don't have a ROM chip to sell anyone (check ebay), and I can't provide support for the devices in any capacity. I'll leave this site up as a resource for everyone, but I am unable to answer support questions on specific Velo issues. Please check the Windows CE Newsgroup FAQ for more general Q&A's.

Performance - High-performance 75MHz, 32-bit MIPS-based Philips PR31700 RISC processor. Designed for fast access and high throughput of Windows CE applications.

Memory - 16MB of EDO DRAM and 16MB Fast Page Mode ROM. Two industry-standard expansion slots for more DRAM, Flash memory, or ROM software upgrades. 8MB DRAM Miniature Card pre-installed in 24MB Velo 500.

Display - Backlit, non-glare touchscreen display. Grayscale LCD supports 16 shades of gray (640x240 pixels, .23mm dot pitch) and on-demand backlighting and contrast control.

Keyboard - Familiar QWERTY keyboard (61 keys) includes 10 user-assignable Quick Start keys to jump start your applications with the touch of a key.

Sound - Omni-directional microphone used in conjunction with the Velo Voice Memo application. Audio speaker for .wav file play back

Communication - Built-in 28.8 Kbps V.34 data/fax modem. Low-profile RJ-11 jack fits the Velo 500's streamlined design. IrDA infrared transceiver (up to 115Kbps) allows you to send files or messages to other handheld PCs and print to IrDA-compatible printers. High-speed RS-232 serial port connects at up to 230Kbps.

Power - Standard is a NiMH rechargeable battery pack. Every time that you synchronize your Velo with your desktop PC you are charging your batteries too, so that you virtually never run out of power. The CR2032 lithium backup battery safeguards your data when your main batteries run low.
