Happy Mother’s Day!

I thought this video was too funny not to share – and anyone that has a brother will know exactly what I’m talking about.

Was it National Insane Parking Day?

parking-madness1

A few weeks back, when there was still some snow on the ground, Ashley and I went to Best Buy to pick something up. It was about 11AM, an hour after they opened. I was stunned to see the way people were parked around this one area. It was like some sort of “who can park the worst contest” – and everybody was a winner. You might expect to see this type of thing if there was a huge pile of snow, and eight hours later the snow is all melted and the cars look parked funny…but it was still a cold day and the snow wasn’t melting much at all. Weirdest thing I’ve seen in a long time. I should call M. Night Shyamalan, I think he’s looking for movie ideas…

An Original Star Wars Toy They Never Released

3181403654_43e156463b

I know this shouldn’t make me laugh (poor Owen and Beru!) but I had a laughing fit when saw this on someone’s Flickr account…so awful, but so funny when you consider the marketing machine of Star Wars in the ’70s where they released action figures for every guy in a costume who had even a split second of on-screen time. Remember all those robots from the Jawa sandcrawler? My cousin had all of them – and there were a lot to be had! But they never made Uncle Lars and Aunt Beru action figures in this particular incarnation…

Terrible Terry Tate: Office Linebacker

cole-tate

Don’t ask me why, but I was wondering who did the voice of Augustus “Cole Train” Cole from Gears of War, because the voice sounded quite familiar but I couldn’t place it. It turns out the voice is none other than Lester “Mighty Rasta” Speight, better known by many as Terry Tate: Office Linebacker. If you haven’t watched the videos, they’re some of the funniest “corporate” commercials and short videos ever made – check ’em all out. I only wish they’d made more of them – they probably ran out of stunt guys to take the hits from the 6 foot 5 Speight! My favourite Office Linebacker short film is below. Enjoy!

Found this amusing image over on Motivated Photos, quite a funny site – but be warned, once you start looking, the time will fly… [thanks Oilman!] [NSFW]

Fantastic T-Mobile Ad: “Life’s For Sharing”

I love how it starts with only a few people then builds to include almost everyone. Brilliant!

Microsoft SongSmith + David Lee Roth = Apocalypse

First, Microsoft released this highly dubious piece of software. The technology behind it looks impressive, but the combination of incredibly lame samples (at least what they’ve shown) and the incredibly lame marketing video, has made this software the subject of much groaning and eye-rolling. But this…this is so awful words can’t adequetely explain it. I guess the good news is that listening to it made me laugh hysterically, so perhaps Microsoft should release it as comedy software.

A Whole New Jason Dunn I Was Mistaken For

Normally, the only Jason Dunn I’m mistaken for in the online world is this singer guy. Well, last night I had an all-new case of mistaken identity: I was watching The Ultimate Fighter Ultimate Finale with a friend, which we were watching on the Xbox 360 via the Windows Media Center UI (man I love that!) and I received an invitation to a “photo party” from a contact that I had approved earlier that day via the Zune software. Confused yet? Yeah, it’s kind of messy. The Xbox 360 and Zune avatar/handle system does such a good job of protecting user identify, I usually have no clue who I’m adding to my buddy list – I always assume it’s someone that I know, and eventually I’ll discover who.

I ignored the “party” request from this person, and after we finished watching the show I noticed I had a new message. I listened to it, and laughed: it was a message from someone I didn’t know, who was complimenting me on my great tattoo work. Now while I do like my one and only tattoo, it’s not particularly impressive from a design standpoint (and in fact needs filling in because it has some gaps), so I was kind of confused. I listened to the message again, and realized that he was talking about tattoos, as in plural.

Then the pieces fell together: he thought I was this Jason Dunn, a very talented tattoo artist. Jason Clay Dunn also happens to have a particular talented for Japanese-themed tattoos, which I find interesting considering my own passion for certain aspects of Japanese culture. I’m still pondering my next tattoos – the Kanji on my back was just a test – but wouldn’t it be cool to be tattooed by my namesake? There’s a certain synergy there that I find appealing.

At any rate, I wish people would grasp the concept that in our vastly interconnected world, there’s nothing particularly unique about a name. Everyone’s identity is multi-faceted, and just because you find the person with the name you’re looking for doesn’t mean you’ve found the right person. What’s really amusing about this whole thing is that Jason Clay Dunn is more connected with social media than I am: he’s on Twitter, Flickr, MySpace, YouTube, Facebook, and two ink Web sites.

And so the world of Jason Dunn’s continue to broaden – I used to think all I had to do was out-last the career of a NFL player and a rock singer, but I doubt this pottery guy and this artist guy are going anywhere soon. 😉

I Definitely Have Days Like This Sometimes…

[I may have taken this blog to an all-time low by posting a LOLcats image,
but hey, I could really relate to the image]
